Castor oil is also used in many hair care products and moisturizing creams. Castor oil is used as a mold inhibitor in foodstuffs. It is also preferred as an anti-rotting agent for many grains. One of its biggest uses is in the health sector. It has been used as a laxative since ancient times. It can also be used as an ointment to prevent the formation of bacteria and fungi. Drugs used in the treatment of diseases such as Aids and cancer contain castor oil. Castor oil is also used in many hair care products and moisturizing creams. It is also thought to be good for the liver when used under the right conditions. Castor oil is used in the production of polyols in the polyurethane industry due to its special hydroxy group. It is also a raw material in the production of many chemicals such as epoxy and lithium soap. The chemical properties of castor oil are suitable for use as motor oil. It degrades much less at high temperatures than other vegetable oils and retains its viscosity at low temperatures. These properties make it very suitable for use as biodiesel. Although it is not widely used today except for some racing engines because it clumps more quickly than petroleum-based engine oils, it served as the lubricant of many aircraft engines during the First World War. Since it does not damage rubber seals, it is still used as a lubricant today. Apart from these, castor oil is used to make the red oil known as 'Turkey red oil'. |
